Bird's eye view of the state parliament

The buildings of the Saxon state parliament are located directly on the bank of the Elbe river at the edge of the historic centre of Dresden's old city between the Marienbruecke and Augustusbruecke bridges. The Semper Opera House and Zwinger Palace border the grounds of the State Parliament to the east. In the west, the hotel in the former Erlwein storehouse and the ICC international congress centre and the Yenidze (resembles a mosque) serve as orientation.

Visitors to plenary sessions and the citizens' foyers should use the public entrance to the new building directly on the banks of the Elbe river. Visitors of the parliamentary parties and the administration of the state parliament should use the entrance to the old building.

There are bicycle racks at both entrances. The buildings and grounds of the State Parliament are wheelchair accessible.

Directions for public transport

Train

  • "Dresden - Neustadt" train station, then continue with suburban rail or tram no. 11
  • "Dresden - Hauptbahnhof" train station, then continue with suburban rail or tram no. 11
  • Suburban rail -> "Dresden - Mitte" station, then continue on foot towards the River Elbe

Tram

  • Lines 4, 8 or 11 to the "Theaterplatz" stop
  • Line 9 to the "Am Zwingerteich" stop

Motorway A 4 from the west and highway 6 from Meißen

Exit at Dresden-Altstadt, take highway B 6 to the junction of Magdeburger and Weißeritzstraße, turn left towards the River Elbe before the Yenidze and then right onto Ostra-Ufer. From there, pass under the Marienbrücke bridge and enter Devrientstraße

Motorway A 4 and A 13 from the north

Exit at Dresden-Hellerau, onto highway B 170, E 55, take the Große Meißner Straße in the city centre to Neustädter Markt, turn right at the Goldener Reiter statue onto the Augustusbrücke bridge and turn left at Terassenufer

Dresden-Süd exit, highway E 55 into the city centre until the Carolabrücke bridge. Turn right onto Pillnitzer Straße before this bridge, then left immediately into Steinstraße, and follow Terassenufer left along the River Elbe to the State Parliament Building (Landtag).

Highway B 6 from Bautzen

Highway to Albertplatz, turn left onto Albertstraße. Cross the Carolabrücke bridge. After the bridge, turn right at the new synagogue and drive down Hasenberg. When you reach the River Elbe, follow Terassenufer to the left as far as the State Parliament.

Radebeul

Follow Leipziger Straße into the centre to the junction with Antonstraße (railway bridge). Continue straight on in the Große Meißner Straße to Neustädter Markt, turn right onto the Augustusbrücke bridge at the Goldener Reiter statue. Turn right before the Semper Opera House, then left at Terassenufer.

Parking

There is pay parking under Bernhard-von-Lindenau-Platz in the "Semperoper" underground carpark. It can be accessed from Devrientstraße or Terassenufer.

There are four short-term parking spaces in front of the entrance to the old building on Bernhard-von-Lindenau-Platz/Devrientstraße. One of those parking spaces is reserved for the disabled.

Tour buses can stop in the "Am Zwingerteich" street for boarding and deboarding.
